Missouri, Iowa, and Louisiana arrived as three substantial map expansions, adding 12 cities in Missouri, 12 in Iowa, and 11 in Louisiana, alongside new industries, depots, bridges, and Special Transport routes. The Route 66 Rework refreshed portions of Arizona and New Mexico, while the Kenworth W900 Legacy Edition delivered heritage-focused truck customization.
- State expansions: Missouri added landmarks such as the Gateway Arch and new underground warehouses; Iowa brought agricultural industries, river ports, and three new Special Transport routes; Louisiana added custom farms, timber depots, river ports, and routes through New Orleans, Lafayette, and Port Fourchon.
- Trucks and cargo:
- Kenworth W900 Legacy Edition: Added a 72-inch flat-roof sleeper, heritage bumpers, legacy exhausts, new paint jobs, and other customization options.
- KRONE Agriculture Equipment DLC: Introduced agricultural machinery cargo including forage harvesters, balers, mower conditioners, and wagons, plus KRONE cabin accessories.
- Farm Machinery DLC: Added the Windrower in two color variants.
- Driving systems:
- Cargo System Redefined: Automatically merged cargo and trailer combinations, reducing the need for pre-baked pairings and supporting future dynamic loading.
- Dynamic Cargo Improvements: Expanded interactive loading and unloading to additional cargo, including logger and chipvan trailers.
- Driving Academy – Truck Driving Proficiency: Added challenging scenarios, collectible stars, and rewards including a blue traffic-cone cabin accessory and customizable paint job.
- Handling and presentation: PhysX System became the default gameplay physics engine, the Vehicle Behaviour Physics & Collisions Update refined handling, and Asynchronous Loading reduced stuttering. Parallax Interiors, HDR Support, and the visual rework of all three truck garages also improved the game’s presentation.
- World of Trucks events: #CruisingMissouri, #CruisingIowa, and #CruisingLouisiana tied community mileage goals and personal delivery challenges to their respective map expansions, with rewards including truck paint jobs, ornaments, and cabin accessories.
Year 9

Arkansas shipped as the period’s biggest content drop, adding 10 cities—including Little Rock and Hot Springs—along with new industries, landmarks, cargoes, and Special Transport routes. Nebraska also expanded the map, while California Rework Phase 4 rebuilt Southern California and added three new cities.
- Map expansions: Nebraska DLC added 12 cities, agricultural depots, new industries, Special Transport routes, and dynamic loading for selected farm cargoes. Arkansas added river ports, timber harvests, custom depots, hidden gems, and routes across I-30, I-40, and I-49.
- California Rework: California Rework Phase 3 refreshed San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Pier 39, and the Golden Gate Bridge, while Phase 4 rebuilt 10 Southern California cities and major routes including US-101, CA-1, I-5, and I-40.
- New trucks and cargo: The Fifth Generation Cascadia became driveable with MirrorEye® cameras and extensive aerodynamic options, and Mack Pinnacle joined the fleet. The JCB Equipment Pack added 10 construction and agricultural machines, including the 245XR Tracked Excavator and 4220 Fastrac iCON Tractor.
- Driving systems: Driving Academy introduced progressively difficult training scenarios, with the Fifth Generation Cascadia later added to its vehicle roster. Dynamic Loading & Unloading expanded from Nebraska and Arkansas to logging and agricultural depots across the USA; Sliding Tandems, Replay, Lane Assistant, automatic differential lock, and blind-spot sensors also arrived.
- Seasonal events: Cruising Nebraska and Cruising Arkansas turned their new states into community driving challenges with exclusive rewards. Happy Hauloween added Halloween Treats deliveries and a Grumpy Ghost reward, while Return to Winterland brought back the snowy Winterland map, gift-pack deliveries, snowflake goals, and Christmas cabin items.
- Special Transport: Special Transport speed limits rose from 40 to 55 mph, and a Los Angeles–San Diego route joined the oversized-load network.
Year 8

Kansas DLC expanded American Truck Simulator with 14 new cities, agricultural industries, custom depots, and the state’s distinctive landscapes. Oklahoma DLC also arrived with 10 cities and new Special Transport routes, while Farm Machinery DLC added a substantial set of agricultural cargoes and equipment.

Map expansions: Kansas and Oklahoma delivered the largest world-building additions.
- Kansas DLC: Added 14 cities, including Kansas City and Wichita, plus grain elevators, railroad depots, farm facilities, and distance-based Turnpike tolls.
- Oklahoma DLC: Added 10 cities, including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Lawton, and Guymon, alongside Route 66 landmarks, new industries, and three Special Transport routes.
- Texas Update: Added 500 real miles across eight roads, five settlements, Texarkana, new landmarks, and additional Special Transport routes.
- California Rework Phase 3: Rebuilt Santa Cruz, Modesto, the CA-1/US-1 coastline, and sections of the western California road network.

Agricultural hauling: Farm Machinery DLC introduced the Owl and Greenler brands, nine machinery cargoes, cabin accessories, and new delivery chains using Lowboy, Dropdeck, and Flatbed trailers.

Truck additions and ownership: Three major vehicle updates gave returning drivers more options.
- Volvo VNL: Added the 860, 740, and 300 models with new engines, cabins, chassis, interiors, and customization.
- Kenworth W900 100-Year Anniversary Edition: Remodeled the cabin and interior while adding new chassis, sleeper, trim, badge, bumper, and accessory options.
- Used Truck Dealers: Added pre-owned trucks with mileage, wear, damage breakdowns, and repair considerations.
- Kenworth T680 100 Years Anniversary Edition: Added an onyx-finished grille, anniversary badging, a digital dashboard, and upgraded safety and aerodynamics.

Driving systems: Adaptive Cruise Control and Emergency Braking added automated speed and collision-avoidance assistance, while the Enhanced Damage and Repair System separated standard damage, parts wear, and permanent wear.

Atmosphere and events: HDR Skyboxes added the Moon, dynamic stars, and visible lightning, while Christmas Winterland 2023, Cruising Oklahoma, and Cruising Kansas supplied large World of Trucks delivery challenges and event rewards.

Montana DLC shipped on July 28, 2022, adding a new state, extended roads, four Special Transport routes, and industries spanning mining, agriculture, and sugar processing. California’s road-network rework modernized major junctions, while Convoy dedicated servers enabled multiplayer sessions to continue without the original host.
- Montana DLC: Added new destinations and logistics, including Signal Peak Coal Mine, Silene Gas Factory, Talc Factory, sugar beet deliveries, grain elevators, and a wider selection of farms.
- Special Transport: Added routes from Havre to Lewiston, Thompson Falls to Kalispell, Laurel to Glendive, and Butte to Bozeman.
- West Yellowstone: Extended US-191 through West Yellowstone to Bozeman and added the US-20 connection from Idaho Falls to West Yellowstone in the 1.46 update.
- California rework: Rebuilt the state’s junctions and highways, including the US-37 route to Napa Valley, the I-80/I-580 merge, and the new Carquinez Bridge area.
- Redding: Received a redesigned road network, new industries, a truck stop, and additional landmarks.
- Napa Valley: Gained winding roads, updated scenery, and the Mon Coeur vineyard industry.
- Richmond–San Rafael Bridge: Received a visual rework alongside new tollgate assets and the Carquinez Bridge connection.
- Convoy and driving systems: Dedicated servers supported continuously running Convoy sessions, while server administrators gained “known players” controls. Adjustable suspension height and the driveshaft torque simulation also expanded truck-handling options.
- Western Star 5700XE: Added the truck to the Western Star dealership with multiple cab styles, engine options, and configuration choices. Ownable Cisterns also introduced customizable chemical trailers.
- Christmas Reflections: Turned gift deliveries into a community event, with personal and global delivery goals that awarded a World of Trucks Achievement, cabin items, and a trailer paint job.
Year 6

Wyoming DLC expanded American Truck Simulator with 10 cities, 14 settlements, new industries, and major landmarks when it released in September 2021. The game also added Convoy mod support, the 2022 Freightliner Cascadia, and a substantial Ukiah rework in California.
- Wyoming DLC: Added 10 cities, 14 settlements, livestock and agricultural cargo, new truck stops, and three Special Transport routes. Drivers also reached Devils Tower, Yellowstone National Park delivery routes, the Black Thunder coal mine, and the Soda Ash Mine.
- Vehicles and hauling: Expanded the truck and trailer roster with three notable additions:
- International LT®: Added as free DLC with multiple configurations and tuning options.
- 2022 Freightliner Cascadia: Introduced a digital dashboard, revised exterior parts, and improved aerodynamic options.
- Dumper Trailers: Became ownable and customizable in End Dumper, Side Dumper, and Livefloor Dumper body types.
- Convoy multiplayer: Added initial third-party MOD support and a session interface for downloading and managing compatible modifications.
- California rework: The Ukiah update rebuilt the city’s assets and surrounding roads, added the neighboring settlement of Hopland, introduced a vineyard industry, and included a secret shortcut.
- Driving and presentation: The Extended Chassis Update added 4x2, 8x4, and 8x6 chassis options across the truck lineup, while the new dynamic lighting system adjusted weather and camera exposure. Force feedback was also rewritten with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the interior cabin sound update improved environmental attenuation.
- World of Trucks events: Cruising Wyoming reached its 80-million-mile community goal and awarded Wyoming-themed rewards, while Christmas Toys of Yesteryear added Gifts cargo, decorative lighting, and cabin accessories. Pinktober 2021 paired charity DLC with a breast-cancer-awareness event.
Year 5

Colorado DLC opened a new state with 13 cities, Rocky Mountain routes, the Million Dollar Highway, gold mines, and wind-power factories. Idaho Expansion also arrived with more than 3,300 miles of roads and 11 cities, while the FMOD Sound Engine substantially overhauled the game’s audio.
- Map expansions: Idaho added the Craters of the Moon National Monument, expanded farming, timber, and wood-processing industries, and introduced new viewpoints. Colorado broadened the map with distinctive Great Plains geography, agriculture, landmarks, and Colorado-specific Steam achievements.
- Heavy hauling and routes: Lowboy Trailers joined the Special Transport and Heavy Cargo DLCs with customizable chassis, colors, accessories, and new traffic appearances. Special Transport gained routes including Boise–Grangeville, Idaho Falls–Challis, Twin Falls–Nampa, Denver Airport–Grand Junction, Sterling–Colorado Springs, and Denver Train Depot–Gold Mine.
- Audio and truck features: FMOD Sound Engine reimplemented the game’s sounds, improved AI movement and sound behavior, and added more dynamic vehicle and environmental audio. Drivers could roll down or open truck windows, buy customizable Food Tank Trailers, and use the walking camera in garages; most older sound mods became incompatible with the new data structures.
- World of Trucks events: #CruisingIdaho rewarded deliveries to every Idaho city and reached its 30-million-mile community goal, while #CruisingColorado challenged drivers to visit all 13 Colorado cities and collectively drive 60 million miles. The Colorado event awarded the Rocky Mountain Bighorn paint job and Rocky Rodeo Gem cabin ornament.
Year 4

Utah State became American Truck Simulator’s newest map expansion, adding red-rock landscapes, historic towns, landmarks, and state-specific welcome signs. The Washington map expansion and Forest Machinery DLC also arrived, broadening the game’s routes, industries, and heavy-haul work.

Map expansions:
- Utah State added new landscapes, landmarks, historic towns, and unique welcome signs.
- Washington expanded the map with Mount St. Helens, Grand Coulee Dam, and distinctive logging roads, including locally adjusted draw distances and detailed scenic viewpoints.

Freight and industrial content: Forest Machinery DLC added new forestry-themed content and Steam achievements, while Special Transport introduced heavy-component routes near Grand Coulee Dam. The Everett Aerospace Factory also opened as a destination for aircraft-part deliveries, using custom prefabs based on the real facility.

Trucks and navigation: The International LoneStar became the game’s sixth truck. GPS Voice Navigation added spoken directions, and community-created voice packs from actors and comedians became available through the Steam Workshop.

Oregon DLC released on October 4, 2018, expanding American Truck Simulator with the Oregon map. The same release brought Classic Stripes Paint Jobs DLC, while the Oregon in Style Bundle packaged both add-ons at a discount.
- Oregon expansion: Added Oregon as a new region, with later features requiring ownership of the Oregon map expansion.
- Detours and trailers: The December 11 update introduced the Detours feature, added buyable turnpike double trailers in Nevada, and added the OR-140 road.
- Trailer cables: The Trailer Cable Simulation added physically simulated connections, with options for full connections, first-trailer-only connections, or no simulation.
- Driving and profile systems: The December 11 update improved suspension, damping, braking, and cogs; added reusable truck and trailer configuration templates; and enabled Steam Cloud profile storage. It also added music shuffling and improved raindrop behavior on glass.
- Halloween Paint Job Pack: The Halloween Paint Job Pack gained a new trailer paint job alongside Halloween-themed bundles and discounts.
Year 2

Doubles and Triples became available in Nevada wherever state law allowed them. The driving model also gained liftable trailer axles, a differential lock, and deeper engine and transmission simulation, while Roswell expanded the New Mexico road network and Grand Gift Delivery drew more than 300,000 participants.
- New hauling systems: Liftable trailer axles and the Differential Lock feature added more control over difficult loads and uneven surfaces. The Weigh Station Pass Device provided a visual weight-check cue, and gas stations gained multiple fueling points.
- Driving simulation: Adaptive Transmission Modes improved the power, normal, and eco settings, while the Improved Engine Simulation Model refined friction, braking, and fuel consumption. Retarder Improvement also improved cruise-control behavior and engine-braking feedback.
- New Mexico and Route 66: Roswell joined the New Mexico DLC road network, and the Musical Road on Route 66 played “America’s Beautiful” when trucks crossed its rumble strips at 45 mph. California’s Highway 1 was temporarily closed by a landslide, with an alternate route added around the affected section.
- World of Trucks events: Grand Gift Delivery concluded after more than 300,000 participants helped save Christmas. Steam Inventory Support enabled rewards from World of Trucks events, while Valentine’s Day Themed Paint Jobs added two themed paint collections and a cabin accessory.
- Modding support: New engine resistance-torque data, nominal air-tank pressure, trailer axle-lift and differential-lock animations, and more consistent pressure units expanded the tools available for truck and trailer creators. The March 2017 changes also increased the FOV range to 40–120 degrees.

Arizona expanded American Truck Simulator with a new region, Grand Canyon and Glen Canyon routes, Colorado River crossings, and a more detailed road network. Steering Creations Pack added custom wheel designs, while Grand Gift Delivery 2016 brought a limited-time delivery challenge with exclusive rewards.

Steering Creations Pack: The paid DLC added a broad selection of custom steering wheels, alongside a major truck-customization update:
- Trailer Selection Feature: Drivers changed trailer models or appearances when accepting jobs, including supported modded trailers.
- Steering Knobs Customization: Six steering-knob designs became placeable at four wheel positions.
- Customizable Cabin Lights and Horns: Trucks gained adjustable cabin lighting and horn options.
- Separate Steering Wheel Models: Each truck received default and exclusive wheel models, with adjustable steering-column tilt and telescope.

Grand Gift Delivery 2016: World of Trucks Job Offers challenged drivers to deliver gifts to 10 different cities while tracking escaped Christmas spirits. Completing the event earned keys for the exclusive Dragon Truck Design DLC, with ATS update 1.5.2 required for participation.

Separated Map Data for Modding: Map data moved into a separate structure that made map modifications easier.
