Dead Kings became Assassin’s Creed Unity’s biggest post-launch addition, arriving free on January 14, 2015. The DLC took Arno to the crypts and mysteries of Saint Denis, adding new story missions, co-op missions, treasure hunts, contracts, and the Guillotine Gun.
- Dead Kings: The free expansion substantially extended Unity beyond its Paris campaign with a new setting, open-world activities, and a multipurpose weapon combining a heavy axe with a grenade launcher.
- Assassin’s Creed Initiates: Initiates and Companion App-exclusive content, including blue and gold chests, became unlocked for players, removing the need to rely on the web services and companion progression.
- Co-op and campaign reliability: November and December updates addressed major problems with co-op matchmaking, joining sessions in progress, host migration, mission walkthroughs, navigation, and Arno getting trapped in hay carts or falling through the world.
- Save games: Save corruption and companion-app-related save issues were resolved, while earned weapon and equipment rewards stopped becoming relocked.
- Find Leon: The missing “Find Leon” objective was restored in the February update.
- Performance and stability: PC-specific updates improved frame rates, task scheduling, connectivity, and crashes, including the “Quit to Windows” crash; they also addressed texture corruption and performance drops during “Reach High Points.”
- Community Events: Community Event rewards were adjusted, while camera, cover, NPC navigation, detection, crowd-station, and animation problems received additional tuning across the launch updates.
