Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition

Native Apple Silicon support arrived for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, improving launch times, performance, and battery life on compatible Macs. Dynamic Language Support Implementation also broadened localization, with community translations adding Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Ukrainian, Hungarian, and Japanese.

  • iOS File Extension Recognition Fix restored recognition of .iwddata files as valid Icewind Dale files.
  • Android DLC Display Fix correctly displayed Fists of the Fallen as installed.

Patch 2.6’s 64-bit upgrade gave Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition a major compatibility refresh for modern machines, while also delivering seven new voice sets and 11 new portraits. Mark Meer reprised Alveus Malcanter and Baeloth Barrityl in two of the new voice options.

• Character customization: Patch 2.6 added seven player voice sets and 11 portraits, giving heroes more options for their voices and appearance.
• Party and multiplayer systems: Improved Pathfinding made party movement smoother, while the Character Imports Fix corrected thief-skill problems in multiplayer imports. Patch 2.6 also fixed several multiplayer crashes.
• Gameplay corrections: Patch 2.6 resolved hundreds of issues affecting spells and hero abilities, removed NPC invincibility after they left the party in Story Mode, and stopped the Spellhold Maze’s crushing trap from killing characters.
• Localization: Patch 2.6 added a French text localization beta for Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, alongside updated system requirements for Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 64-bit, OS X 10.9, and Ubuntu 18.04 or equivalent.

New localization support added Simplified Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Polish text, while German, Italian, and Polish voice-over options broadened the game’s language coverage. The updates also added the Priest of Tempus kit, Road to 2.0 community portraits, and several long-requested gameplay improvements.

• Gameplay and balance: Hexxat survived the final Throne of Bhaal encounter, imported Rangers gained Racial Enemy selection, and Tenser’s Transformation stopped disabling innate spells.
• Accessibility and multiplayer: Take All buttons simplified container looting, Tablet Dialogue Buttons improved tablet interaction, and multiplayer stability saw improvements.

Mac and Linux support was the biggest addition to Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, arriving in December 2014. The same update delivered dozens of gameplay enhancements and more than 500 bug fixes, making it a substantial platform and stability release.
