Counter-Strike Nexon’s service termination became the defining change: the game and official community operations ended after June 24, 2026, while paid-item and DLC sales also stopped. Before the shutdown, Class Awakening System removed class restrictions from traits, and Season 24: Atlantis delivered a major new content cycle.

Season 17: Egypt launched with an Egyptian theme, new rewards, the Extension Building Site map, Anubis-themed weapons, costumes, and Season Pass items. The game also added Zombie Scenario 8-4, Survival - Isolation, and Super Soldier Mode, while earlier seasons introduced substantial new rewards and progression.
- Season content: The seasonal structure received several major refreshes.
- Season 14: The Jungle introduced jungle-themed content, including Ancient Keeper, Ancient Berserker, and Ancient Bringer.
- Season 15: Cyborgs added futuristic rewards such as Dart Pistol TECH and Crowbar Maverick TECH.
- Season 16: Alice in Wonderland added new seasonal nameplates, medals, and rewards before Season 17: Egypt arrived.
- Zombie Scenario and maps: Story-driven Zombie content expanded with Zombie Scenario 8-3, which followed Ritsuka’s story, Zombie Scenario 8-4, which introduced the Nexus Space Rift, and Survival - Isolation, set around the Aegis Institute. Other map additions included Sky Garden, Breezeway, Woods Near the Wind Farm, and Extension Building Site.
- Modes and creation tools: Super Soldier Mode added human-versus-human Team Deathmatch with enhanced abilities, while Zombie Z Laboratory provided a testing-focused mode with an Italy map. Yuri’s Secret Aquarium and Yuri’s New Secret Place expanded Studio’s user-created content, and Zombie Classic Studio Mode increased its capacity to 32 players.

Zombie Conquest (beta) was the year's biggest addition, bringing team-based competition to a new mode alongside the inaugural Zombie Conquest League Season 1. The game also rolled out Season 13: Space, expanded Zombie Scenario, and added a substantial lineup of classes, weapons, and maps.

Season 10: Steampunk launched with a new seasonal track, Gear-Bird Cannon rewards, Black Market early access for Rank 100 players, and themed cosmetics. Zombie Z Season 2 expanded the mode with new mutations, levels, challenges, and rewards, while Ismael, Ethan, and Failnaught arrived as a new Transcendence character-and-weapon package.
- Season progression: Season 9: Fantasy World and Season 8: Ice Kingdom also launched with new season-pass rewards, weapons, costumes, sprays, and medals.
- New weapons and maps:
- Ismael and Ethan added new Transcendence abilities, while Failnaught fired holy arrows and introduced unique weapon effects.
- Twin Shadow Axes added the Shadow Slam and Shadow Vortex skills, plus a combo attack that connected the two axes.
- Devastator introduced a .50-caliber incendiary heavy machine gun, and Magnum Shooter became a permanent weapon through the Special Ammo Collection Event.
- Medieval Fort, CSN:S Land, Pursuit: Missed Connections, and Pursuit: Evelyn’s Test A expanded Studio and Zombie Scenario content.
- New systems: Scenario TX added boss missions, official lore, and player-created hunting maps. The Weapon Enhancement System let players use spare weapons as materials, while the League System Revamp moved competition into seasons through Zombie League Seasons 1–5.
- Zombie gameplay changes: Abyss and Inferno increased the difficulty ceiling in Zombie Scenario, while Elite Monsters, the Add-On System, and new Scenario missions added more build and challenge options. Mutation Balance Updates and the Zombie Evolution & Zombie Z Rebalance then retuned human skills, zombie abilities, and mutation performance.

Season 6: The Wizard of Oz launched with a 100-level progression track and the Quest Zombie feature, while Zombie Evolution introduced virus injections, infinite zombie respawns, and the Zombie Junk House map. Season 5: Kingdom also brought a major collaboration with Joseon-themed content, new classes, and Zombie Mode changes.
- Season launches: Season 5: Kingdom added collaboration content and improved Season Pass rewards; Season 6: The Wizard of Oz expanded progression and introduced Quest Zombie; Season 7 Update launched on October 5.
- Zombie Evolution: The mode debuted on Zombie Junk House, where humans and zombies used Virus Injection abilities. Zombies also gained infinite respawns, with longer timers after Deadly Shot eliminations.
- New modes and systems: Manhunt made one player a zombie hunting humans repairing generators, while Zombie Shelter added survival gameplay. The Exploration System let classes retrieve items while logged out, and Studio gained All-Star, All-Star+, Gun Deathmatch, map tags, and creator-event tools.
- Weapons, classes, and maps: Void Avenger became the first Epic secondary weapon, while Heaven Splitter, Hellhound, Lightning Fury, Psychic Harmonium, and Starlight Rolling Shooter expanded the arsenal. Lee-Chang, Yeong-Shin, Queen, and Cyborg joined the Transcendence roster, alongside maps including Joseon Marketplace, Researcher’s Log Supplement #Joseon, Joseon Village, Alcatraz-Z, and Industrial Warehouse.
- Combat and progression changes: Zombie Hero received 12 new rules and 19 existing-rule adjustments; Voodoo Zombie, Banshee Zombie, Heavy Zombie, Venom Guard, SCAR OZ-C, and SCAR OZ-D were retuned. The Enhancement System Revamp raised the maximum enhancement to +9 and allowed unused weapons to serve as materials, while the Duplicate Enhancement Material Bug was closed and improperly gained materials were removed.

Season 2 reshaped Counter-Strike Nexon with a new reward track, exclusive weapons and costumes, zombie skins, classes, and the Stinger. Last Stand introduced a new cooperative survival mode, while Partner Mode added AI allies with unique abilities.
- Season progression: The Season System cycled every three months, tied rewards to seasonal ranks, and granted additional rewards through the Season Pass. Season 2 and Season 3 both launched, with Season 2 also adding:
- Stinger: A vampire-hunting weapon that fired three special stakes.
- Season 2 Pass: Added exclusive weapons and costumes.
- Zombie skins and classes: Added two new zombie skins and two new classes.
- Modes and maps: Zombie Z debuted, Last Stand added the Cantera and Desktop maps, and Partner Mode let players cooperate with AI Partners. Alcatraz also joined the original-map lineup, while Hide & Seek received three Studio maps and new transformation options.

Studio Mode became a major creative addition on November 29, 2017, letting players build, share, and play custom maps before expanding with more themes and modes. Zombie Shelter – City of the Dead: Hell Gate followed on March 28, 2018, while Ranked Mode and a broad matchmaking overhaul reshaped how competitive games were found and started.
- Studio expansion: Studio Destruction, Studio Bot Zombie, and Studio Team Deathmatch were added, alongside Studio Soccer map creation, new NPCs, and the Space Station developer map. Players also received the Warehouse and Ice World maps through the renewed Gun Deathmatch.

- Zombie Shelter – City of the Dead: Hell Gate added a new survival map, with the associated challenge event rewarding a permanent Battle Python.

Zombie Hero Mode also received revised rules, increased zombie health, and stronger Zombie Bomb damage.
- Matchmaking and access: Ranked Mode used skill-based matching, while the Reconstructed Matchmaking System unified regular and custom-game searching and added Quick Start. The User Information Migration to Nexon Korea also moved account data from Nexon Europe and offered M4A1 Dark Knight, AK47 Paladin, and decoder rewards for participating accounts.
