The Linux and SteamOS release brought F1 2015’s 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship and 2014 bonus content to those platforms on May 26, 2016. Strict Corner Cutting Rules, Team and Driver Performance rebalancing, and a broad multiplayer refresh also changed how races were run and joined.
-
Linux and SteamOS: F1 2015 arrived on both platforms with the 2015 championship and 2014 bonus content included.
-
Multiplayer: Several systems made online sessions easier to find and more predictable.
- Session List Screen let players search public sessions and join a preferred lobby.
- Invite Only Custom Matches gave hosts a private matchmaking option, while Push to Talk improved voice communication.
- Multiplayer Hoppers were reorganized around difficulty settings, removed AI opponents, used randomized grids, and extended the pre-race countdown.
-
Race rules and season structure: Strict Corner Cutting Rules added a tougher penalty option, while Customizable Championship Season weekends let players tailor their race formats. The Feature Race rotated through the Belgian, Italian, Singapore, and Brazilian Grands Prix, and the Russian Grand Prix received updated Super Soft and Soft tyre selections.
-
Competition and AI: Team and Driver Performance was recalibrated against the season’s results. AI Behavior in Qualifying improved with staggered garage exits, appropriate tyre use, and additional runs in Short Qualifying and Q3; separate changes also corrected AI pit frequency, collision behavior, and One-Shot Qualifying DRS use.
-
Hardware and presentation: SimXperience AccuForce Steering Wheel Support and Thrustmaster T-150 support expanded driving-device compatibility. Updated car models and liveries covered Mercedes, Ferrari, Williams, Force India, McLaren, Lotus, and Manor, while Intel Hyper-Threading and high-core-count CPU optimizations improved PC performance.
