The Chronicles of the Haunted Fleet Halloween event launched with a supernatural mission chain, event challenges, and themed fishing gear. Its Supernatural Explorer Diary led players through local legends and mythical creatures, while the final mission rewarded the Japanese Squid Kabuto helmet.

- Tournament equipment: The Mighty Carp Tournament Pack became available with exclusive gear for the tournament.
- Event extras: Haunted Fleet Twitch Drops rewarded viewers with event baits and lures, while the Creepy Lures Bundle returned to the Premium Shop with lures from earlier Halloween events.

The Skårland Fjord, Norway location delivered Fishing Planet’s biggest content drop, adding a 10x10 km waterway with 25 cold-water species and 79 fish to discover. The Catch & Compete update overhauled competition systems, while Angler’s House and the Trophy Room added a personal space for displaying prized catches.
- Skårland Fjord: The Norway Update added the Ingrid and Valkyrie fishing boats, rough-water zones, monster-fish missions, electric rods and reels, and species including the Greenland Shark, Atlantic Halibut, European Sea Sturgeon, and Porbeagle Shark. The Valkyrie also introduced a crane for hauling and photographing giant fish.
- Lone Star overhaul: Back to Basics – First Levels Rework expanded Lone Star Lake with four locations, kayak access, new adventure missions, a redesigned Tight Lines tutorial, and six freshwater species, while the StarRanger Trolling Kayak added a pedal-powered option with rod holders and an Echo Sounder.
- Competitive systems: Catch & Compete introduced Competitive Rating, skill-based Matchmaking, Daily Missions, and colored Marker Buoys. The new Leaderboards split rankings into Global, Competitions, and Fish categories, with unique rewards for prize positions and rating-based grouping for tournaments.
- Progression and mechanics: The level cap increased from 100 to 110, Repair Kits enabled repairs without equipping damaged gear, and the line-tension changes gave anglers more time to react to slack. Large unique fish in Skårland Fjord, including the Greenland Shark and Atlantic Halibut, became easier to reel in while granting more XP.

Noomaa Kuda Atholhu launched in June 2025, adding a large Maldives destination with 55 atolls, 28 fish species, and 14 new species. Ocean Update and the Dnipro River expansion also substantially broadened Fishing Planet with open-sea fishing, shared boats, and a new Ukrainian waterway.
- Noomaa Kuda Atholhu: The Maldives location added starting areas at Maahuraa Lagoon and Kuda Veli, legendary billfish such as Swordfish, Sailfish, and Black Marlin, plus reef species including Great Barracuda, Wahoo, and Indo-Pacific King Mackerel. The Chamaeleon Catamaran supported five players, while new Monster missions featured Night Windrazor and Hordecuda.
- Ocean Update and Dnipro River: The Ocean Update introduced vast open seas and Fishing Together, allowing friends to fish side by side on one boat. Dnipro River added four areas, 32 fish species including seven new species, freshwater trolling, new missions, competitions, and the Thorn-Ripper Monster fish.
- Fishing mechanics: Vertical Jigging added a new spinning retrieval style for deep-water predators, while the Weather Mechanics Update changed how weather affected competition results. Advanced Licenses also enabled anglers to keep Beluga and European Eel at specific locations.
- Seasonal events:
- Chronicles of The Haunted Fleet introduced supernatural missions, mythical creatures, collectible Phantom Ships wheels, and the Japanese Squid Kabuto reward.
- Golden Turkey Rush added cooking missions, Golden Corn, magical Cauldrons, and the Indian Canoe.
- Christmas Holiday Event and Krampus Hunt brought festive fish, challenges, snowball fights, and holiday rewards.
- Kick The Snake! returned Snakeheads and St. Patrick’s Day missions.
- Packs and competitions: The Fishing Planet Boat Series Pack supplied tournament-focused boat gear, while the Christmas Giant’s Pack bundled seasonal equipment and licenses. The Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup 2025 and 10-for-10 Drops Campaign celebrated the game’s 10th anniversary with tournament prizes and streamer rewards.

The Ocean Update transformed Fishing Planet with Kaiji No Ri, Japan, a 20-by-20-kilometer saltwater destination featuring 18 fish species, a level-cap increase to 90, more than 500 new items, and new ocean simulation systems. It also introduced Fishing Together for two to four players and supported the Ocean DLC Packs, which added boats, gear, and pond passes.
- Kaiji No Ri, Japan: The new ocean location added tuna and other regional fish, fishing yachts, echo sounders, fish finders, dynamic sea life, ocean weather, saltwater tackle, navigation buoys, local shops, missions, four competitions, and 11 achievements. The Sailor Collection Pack expanded its gear options with ocean-focused equipment.
- Fishing Together: The Tsurihito Scutum and Tsurihito Volans yachts supported two- and four-player sessions with shared fishing conditions, storage, and XP bonuses. The feature also added exclusive missions and cooperative ocean fishing.
- Club Leagues: Icebreaking Angler Rivals began the first Club Leagues season, adding weekly Championship competitions, seven league divisions, Club Points, Club Tokens, season rewards, and League Trophies.
- Fishing mechanics: The Pulling-up Fishing Mechanic and Landing Net System reshaped heavyweight catches, while Free Spool, Saltwater Trolling, revamped Pull-and-Reel Mechanics, and dynamic fish movement expanded the ocean gameplay.
- Pulling-up Fishing Mechanic improved the process of fighting large fish and worked with the new Landing Net System for fish over 5 kg.
- Free Spool gave anglers more control while bottom fishing at depth.
- Saltwater Trolling added a boat-based method for targeting large pelagic fish.
- Cross-platform play: Epic Games Store–Steam cross-play let players from both PC storefronts compete together, while tournament registration opened all waterways to participants regardless of level.
- Seasonal events: Halloween 2023, Christmas Event 2023, and Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup 2024 added themed missions, rewards, and tournament competition.

Fishing Planet Clubs became the biggest new social feature, adding club creation, member communication, shared marker buoys, and dedicated fishing rooms with experience bonuses. Pulling-Up fishing and the Landing Net System also changed how anglers handled heavy catches, while the Halloween Event and Merry Fishmas 2022 delivered substantial seasonal missions.
- Fishing Planet Clubs and fishing systems:
- Fishing Planet Clubs: Players created or joined clubs, used club chat and logo tools, and fished together in dedicated club rooms.
- Pulling-Up: Larger fish required a more demanding reeling mechanic that varied with their size.
- Landing Net System: All players could safely land fish over 5 kg, starting at level 1.
- Major tournaments: Competitive fishing expanded through World Cats Cup 2023, World Bass Tour 2023, Fishing Planet Boat Series, and Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup, with qualifier rounds, semifinals, finals, and X-Series tackle rewards.
- Seasonal events:
- Halloween Event: Mystical missions, monster fish such as Fish-Phantoms and Fish-Demons, the Druid Stone, Ghost Gate mechanics, and the Hellfish Fighter Pack arrived.
- Merry Fishmas 2022: Santa’s lost presents, the Krampus Hunt, the mythical Crystal Burbot, Christmas baits, and holiday tackle rewards were added.
- St. Patrick’s Day Celebration: Kick the Snake, the Rainbow Chase, Lucky Horseshoes, Clover Coins, the Leprechaun costume, and the St. Patrick’s Song boat featured in the event.
- 4th of July Independence Treasure Hunt: Liberty Cannon missions, USA flag objectives, historic tagged fish, and George Washington-themed rewards were introduced.
- Revolutionary Pack: The limited 4th of July Edition added a purchasable tackle set, while restoring George Washington’s statue awarded the Revolutionary Angling Jacket and SwordCast Casting Rod.
- Progression and competition changes: Pond Achievements gained location-specific tracking and retrospective calculations, while Custom Competitions were improved and Amateur Competitions were temporarily deactivated.

Congo River was Fishing Planet’s biggest addition, opening seven African fishing locations and introducing 17 species, including Goliath Tigerfish, Nile Perch, and African Tigerfish. It was followed by Selenge River in Mongolia, the Wild Africa Pack, and a full mobile launch that expanded how the game could be played.
- Congo River: The African destination added locations such as Cable Ferry, Wild Islands, Bomuna Settlement, and Hanging Bridges, alongside new tackle, baits, fishing guides, competitions, and the level-cap increase to 80.
- Selenge River and Taimen-Khan: Mongolia added four Selenge River fishing areas and species including Arctic Grayling, Lenok, Baikal Omul, and Siberian Taimen. The Taimen Khan Pack introduced matching rods, reels, lures, outfits, and the Taimen-Khan fish monster.
- Wild Africa Pack: The DLC delivered the Nile Chasseur™ 190 SE rod, GiantSpin™ 9000 SE reel, Safari Pro vest, Advanced License, and a Congo River Pass, while Mighty M’Benga became a new Congo River fish monster.
- Mobile launch: The iOS version added first-person fishing, boat travel, hands-on catching, and touch-focused controls through a new mobile interface.
- Tournament circuit: Fishing Planet broadened competitive play with the World Cats Cup, Bream Feeder Frenzy Tour, World Bass Tour, Char Charger’s Open, Fishing Planet Boat Series, and Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup. Tournament rewards also increased threefold in Credits and gained additional X-Series equipment.
- Seasonal and monster content: Halloween 2021: Curse of the Frankenfish added Ghost Pikes, Monster Gars, the Monstrosity Kayak, and the Frankenfish hunt, while Merry Fishmas: Krampus Hunt introduced Krampus Fish and Christmas baits. South American waters also gained Elusive Arapaima, Fighter Shark, Wailing Catfish, and the Mega Piranha Trio, with monster-mission rewards increased.

Amazonian Maze opened in Brazil in March 2021, adding nine fishing locations, 24 fish species, and a new level-70 ceiling. River Marron also expanded the map in Bolivia, while Merry Fishmas: Krampus Hunt and Halloween 2020: Curse of the Frankenfish delivered substantial seasonal activities.
- Amazonian Maze: The Brazilian waterway added canals, islands, and locations including Flor de Pedra, Rio Grande Hotel, and Pindobusu Beach.
- New species: Orinoco Bass, Bicuda, Piraiba Catfish, Electric Eel, Banded Aracu, and Bull Shark joined the catch roster.
- New equipment: Rodster cases, Whoa tackle boxes, Pocket Boss vests, Vestern Pro waistcoats, and Amazonian baits such as Blue-Winged Grasshopper and Amazonian Sardine arrived.
- River Marron: Bolivia gained a new fishery with Tambaqui, Trahira, Apapa, Redtail Catfish, and Red Peacock Bass, alongside the Tropic Hunter Pack’s Lyra motorboat and Uniq echo sounder.
- Monster fish: Ghost Peacock Bass appeared at Blue Crab Island, Colossus Carp at Weeping Willow, Leviathan Sturgeon at the Akhtuba River, Black Whisker at Sander Baggersee Lake, Cannibal Eel at the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal, and Perch Bully at Lesni Vila.
- Seasonal events: Halloween 2020 introduced Frankenfish, Ghost Pikes, Mutant Gars, Skeleton Bluegills, kayak races, and the Monstrosity Kayak; Merry Fishmas added Krampus Fish, Christmas baits, magical jukeboxes, gifts, and event tokens.
- Competitive fishing: The Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup, Winter Pike Tour 2021, Grand Smallie’s Cup 2020, Spring Cats Tour 2021, Char Charger’s Open, and Independence Trout Open supplied tournaments across locations including Kaniq Creek, White Moose Lake, Lake Saint-Croix, and the Everglades.
- Fishing systems: Motorboats gained GPS navigation, boats and kayaks could share inventory space, competition rewards became randomized, the Hall of Fame gained tournament retrospectives and big-fish scores, and Japanese localization was added.

The Euro Update delivered Fishing Planet’s biggest expansion of the window, adding a European region with five waterways—Lesni Vila, Ghent–Terneuzen Canal, Tiber River, Sander Baggersee, and Akhtuba River—and 37 fish species. Weeping Willow Fisheries then expanded the carp endgame, while motorboats opened a faster way to explore several existing lakes.
- European waterways and fish: The Euro Update added new European species such as Bream, Tench, Roach, Zander, Asp, Barbel, Bighead Carp, and giant fish including Wels Catfish and Beluga. Akhtuba River later gained the Chaika Creek, Resting Waters, Wide as the Russian Soul, and All Hail the Pioneers fishing spots, plus the Roach Rider, Party of Five, and Ide, Huuuge Ide competitions.
- New fishing systems: Feeder Fishing, Bottom Fishing, Feeding Spots, chum preparation, and the advanced Chum Making process introduced new ways to attract and target coarse fish. Multi-rod Fishing and Rod Holders allowed anglers to fish several rods at once, while a revised fish-generation system and AI added moving schools, weather-dependent bites, and stronger ecosystem interactions.
- Carp-focused content: Weeping Willow Fisheries added five match lakes and a river in Kent County, alongside dedicated carp tackle, the Carp Lord Pack, the Hybrid F1 Carp, and competitions including Jolly Carp, Lucky Ghost Hunt, and Grass Cutter Range. Flat Feeders, Spods, and PVA Bags/Mesh expanded bait delivery, while the level cap rose to 50.
- Boats and exploration: Motorboats arrived in metal flatbottomed, rubber inflatable, and bass-boat varieties, with engine-management mechanics and access to waterways including Emerald Lake, Falcon Lake, and Rocky Lake.
- Seasonal events and competition: CURSE OF THE FRANKENFISH added Frankenfish, Ghost Pikes, Mutant Gars, Skeleton Bluegills, Halloween missions, and the Monstrosity Kayak. The Spring Cats Tour, Virtual Bass Open, Independence Trout Open, and Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup kept the tournament calendar active.

European Waterways expanded Fishing Planet with 10 new waterways across Europe and more than 20 fish species. The year also brought boat fishing, a full Steam release, and substantial new systems including feeder fishing, multi-rod setups, missions, and navigation tools.
- European Waterways: Added 10 new European fishing destinations and more than 20 fish species, giving the game its largest new region of the year.
- Boat Fishing: Introduced kayak fishing across Emerald, Falcon, White Moose Lake, Lake Saint-Croix, and San Joaquin Delta. The Kayaks Adventure Pack added three specialized kayaks, while four more models—GoldenAlbatros™, SilverGull™, Neptune™, and Tritone™—joined the store.
- New Fishing Systems: Added Feeder Fishing to attract fish to a chosen spot and Multi-Rod Fishing for managing several rods at once. The Missions System introduced objectives for learning mechanics and engaging with game content.
- Navigation and Progression Tools: Added the Navigation Tablet, depth maps, shared fishing-spot markers, tackle setup templates, exploration challenges, and Photo Mode. Storage Boxes expanded limited home inventory, while Chinese language support and a new support form broadened accessibility.
- Competitions and Events: Expanded competitive fishing with eight topwater and night competitions, including Moonlight Gars, Dancing with Pike, and Kaniq Topwater Rodeo. Seasonal events included SPOOkTacular Halloween, Christmas Giant’s Tour, St. Patrick’s Gold Hunt, Spring Cats Tour, Virtual Bass Open, and Fishing Planet Anniversary Cup.
- Fishing Model Changes: Improved lure buoyancy so heavier lures sank faster, upgraded line rigidity, lure hydrodynamics, collision rendering, and wind effects, and adjusted Channel Catfish biting and profitability at Mudwater River. Travel costs also fell at several waterways, including Emerald, Rocky, Quanchkin, San Joaquin Delta, and Mudwater.
