Year 8

Dec 12, 2024 - Dec 12, 2025

52 changes

The August 2025 update was Gang Beasts’ broadest release beat, adding more kill volumes to Trawler while tightening Subway’s camera bounds and revising glass behavior. Backflip tuning followed in October, alongside Unity security-vulnerability protection, while Waves and Football received targeted gameplay corrections.

  • Stages and physics: Trawler gained additional kill volumes, Subway received constrained camera movement, and glass fragmentation was optimized with revised fracturing visuals. Backflips also became easier than they were in patch 1.27.
  • Waves and Football: Waves corrected confetti triggers, enemy targeting, and eliminated-player name displays, while Football’s ball-attraction system stopped footballs from pushing or pulling characters.
  • Online play and stage interactions: Gang Beasts corrected invite-based session joining, Switch players getting stuck after a host shutdown, and several stage-specific problems involving Crane, Containers, Chute, Girders, Lighthouse, and Grind.
  • Costumes and character presentation: Kigurumi buoyancy, Welder’s Mask visor separation, and missing geometry on the Hi-Vis Vest, Security Jacket, Warrior Dress, and football T-shirts were corrected; the game also fixed costume clipping and characters facing away on the join screen.
  • Security and controls: The October update addressed the disclosed Unity Security Vulnerability, disabled non-host input at game start, restored the Default language setting behavior, and corrected language text rendering and the fatal error triggered by changing language.

Year 7

Dec 12, 2023 - Dec 12, 2024

68 changes

The Crane stage became Gang Beasts’ standout addition, bringing a dockside shipping-container crane, cabin controls, and the aggressive Birds escalation to Beef City. Its dynamic AI navigation and moving machinery created new opportunities for chaos, while bird Kigurumis and safety costume pieces added matching cosmetics.

  • Crane content: Players controlled the crane from its driver’s seat, while the Birds hazard dive-bombed fighters on the stage. The update also introduced a dynamic AI navigation system for Crane.
  • New systems and stage variants: The Interactables System organized interactive objects into optimized lists, and Unity’s Addressables Asset System improved loading and content delivery. Billboard gained an alternate panel layout, while keyboard controls let players spawn AI characters.
  • Gameplay tuning: Aquarium’s cephalopod tentacles targeted players more aggressively, Wheel received standardized ramp weights, and the Rhino Kigu and Fez costume pieces became easier to use for grabbing. Gondola also received revised spawn-volume behavior.
  • Online and stage reliability: Waves stopped matching more than four players and received fixes for red-door interactions and Subway spawning. Aquarium exploits were addressed, online loading and matchmaking became more reliable, and controller disconnections no longer blocked players from joining online games.

Year 6

Dec 12, 2022 - Dec 12, 2023

22 changes

The October 2023 gameplay and stability update delivered Gang Beasts’ main refresh, concentrating on stage physics, object interactions, and reliability rather than adding a new stage or mode. It also added Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese support and improved presentation across the game.

  • Stage physics overhaul: The update improved escalation mechanics and Tentacles AI in Aquarium, glass fractures on Roof, ice breaking and buoyancy on Buoy, water in Containers, and football physics and deflation rates in Football.
  • Stability and matchmaking: AutoJointV2 joints improved stage stability, with additional work on Vents, Roof, Subway, Wheel fences, and the Buoy antenna. It also addressed random kicks from local games and matchmaking problems in Gang Mode.
  • Interaction and presentation fixes: Grab interactions, the Life Vest, Deep Sea Helmet, costumes, and Beanie received targeted corrections, while lighting across the stages and the menu font were improved.

  • Online sessions: The online pause menu gained a player list, private sessions stopped kicking inactive players, and the public kick timer increased from 30 to 60 seconds.
