Year 6

894 changes

Patch 3.0 launched on July 24, 2019, beginning Season 7 and replacing much of Hero Siege’s old progression, loot, and multiplayer structure. It added Shield Lancer, mercenary companions, handcrafted loot, class talent trees, new dungeons, and major endgame systems.

  • Dungeon expansion: The update added handcrafted dungeons across the acts, including Old Tower, Abandoned Mine, Forgotten City, Pumpkin Cellar, Frozen Cellar, Rat Cave, and Black Tower. Unstable Rifts added random loot portals, while Wormholes became a more demanding endgame ladder with steeper monster-level scaling.
  • Ruby Gardens and Shadow Realm: Ruby Gardens arrived in the Act 6 town with unique music and ruby-focused rewards. The Shadow Realm Boss became accessible through Dimensional Shards, while Ruby Keys dropped from Uber Damien, Uber Reaper, and some regular bosses and champions.
  • Classes and combat: Shield Lancer launched with stamina-based ability scaling, and Melee Mercenary offensive and defensive trees expanded the companion system after Minions were rebranded as Mercenaries. Necromancer minions gained shared movement speed, new procs, recall functionality, and stronger scaling; Marksman also received a reworked Arrow Rampage and substantial ability buffs.
  • Endgame and online overhaul: The Relic system was rewritten, Magic Find and experience scaling were heavily rebalanced, and Inferno rose to monster level 200. Hero Siege also reprogrammed its engine and networking, removed P2P from Official play, and let players access zones without host dependency.

Year 5

Jan 29, 2018 - Jan 29, 2019

388 changes

Plague Doctor arrived as a new playable class, adding a paid option to Hero Siege’s roster. The game also introduced the Crafting System and delivered a Complete Balance Overhaul that rebuilt the relationship between player stats, enemy scaling, and item progression.

  • Plague Doctor: The class released for $4.99 with a 15% launch discount, then received buffs to Oops, Plague Rats, and Crematus. Pirate also received a rework to its Parrot visuals, animations, sound effects, and Anchor knockback.
  • Crafting System: Players disenchant items and crafted new Legendary, Mythic, and Satanic gear. The Mythic-to-Satanic conversion chance increased from 8% to 16%, while Mystery Chests became purchasable before level 150 with level-appropriate items.
  • Complete Balance Overhaul: The Stats Overhaul reduced player and enemy numbers, while the Major Item Stats Overhaul gave items progressive scaling. Progress became tied to player level and difficulty, higher difficulties opened from level 1, runes capped at level 18, and the Enemy Pack System was added.
  • Wormholes and progression: Wormholes could only be upgraded one level at a time, gained new themes, and awarded up to five additional item drops plus more rubies for fast clears. Act zones also persisted after using a Town Portal, preventing enemies, items, and loot from respawning.
  • Class tuning: Redneck, Plague Doctor, Viking, Nomad, Pirate, Amazon, Demon Slayer, Paladin, Shaman, Samurai, Necromancer, Marksman, White Mage, and Marauder all received targeted buffs, while skills such as Manacalypse, Demonic Presence, Blood Surge, Arrow Rampage, and Bullet Hell were rebalanced.
  • Engine and multiplayer: Hero Siege moved to GameMaker Studio 2, bringing higher frame rates, while the Improved Networking Engine reduced twitching and glitches. US West and US East servers replaced the former US Central servers.
