BULLSHARK BattleMech chassis entered the store as a new 95-ton option, giving returning pilots a substantial new assault ’Mech to build around. The December release also introduced Atlas “Warlord” and Vapor Eagle “Gorewing,” while February added two more Legendary BattleMechs.
- BattleMech roster: BLACK KNIGHT “RED REAPER II” and WARHAWK “KASAI” joined the Legendary lineup alongside the BULLSHARK, Atlas “Warlord,” and Vapor Eagle “Gorewing.” December also offered two special free ’Mechs.
- Weapons and maps: Binary Laser Canon and X-Pulse Lasers expanded the weapon selection, while Scrap Yard and Bearclaw II joined the map rotation.
- Balance changes: May brought adjustments to ’Mech quirks and weapons, while February also tuned weapons, maps, and ’Mech quirks. The changes targeted the performance of BattleMechs and the balance of their equipment.
- Seasonal events: Stocking Stuffer and the 12 Days of Christmas Treasure Hunt provided December holiday activities, while the Patch Science Sale offered discounted equipment, weapons, and applicable BattleMechs.
- Store additions: Spring Is Here Summer Is Near Bundles arrived with the Summer Celebration Warhorn Bundle, which included more than 30 warhorns.

Quarantine Hero Mech arrived as a free giveaway with a Mech Bay and 14 days of Premium time. MWO Beach Party 2020 delivered the largest event run, while Trick or Treat Halloween Event added another free Heavy Mech and seasonal rewards.
- MWO Beach Party 2020: Its three phases rewarded loot bags for match scores, kills, and Kill Most Damage Dealt results. The event also unlocked a Pick a Prize Mech, Reinforcement Mechs, and Hot Rod Patterns.
- Trick or Treat Halloween Event: Players earned Loot Bags and completed challenges for rewards, including a free Heavy Mech. Halloween Sales on MC, Mechs, and Colors discounted seasonal store offerings.
- Heroes to the Rescue Event: The extended event ran from late August through October 15 and provided another major reward-focused activity. Hero Mech Sales also cut the MC price of selected Hero Mechs by 50%.
- Combining Group and Solo Queues: A four-week test combined the group and solo matchmaking queues, giving mixed-party matchmaking a temporary trial.
- Double XP Event and Quadruple XP Conversion Sale: The Double XP Event increased experience gains across all modes, while the Quadruple XP Conversion Sale raised the XP conversion rate to four times normal. The Annual Customer Rewards Program also outlined qualifying player rewards.

The Evolution Pack arrived with the Hatamoto Chi and Charger, marking the game’s 100th and 101st Mech Chassis. The roster then grew with the Marauder II, Dervish, Warhammer IIC, and Rifleman IIC, alongside new maps, Faction Play updates, and seasonal rewards.
- Mech roster: Four major additions expanded the available chassis lineup.
- Marauder II launched with multiple new variants.
- Dervish introduced a medium mech focused on missile loadouts.
- Warhammer IIC joined the game alongside a Holiday Bonus Hero Mech.
- Rifleman IIC arrived with new variants, while MW5 preorder holders received additional preorder content and variants.
- Maps and customization: Hibernal Rift joined the rotation after being redesigned from Canyon Network with new cover and routes. Forest Colony Classic and Frozen City Classic also returned, while the Corsair Preorder Mech, Holiday Bonus Corsair Hero Mech, four Standard variants, and new Rifleman IIC bolt-ons expanded customization options. Glowing Eyes and Faction Flags were added as additional bolt-ons.
- Faction Play: Faction Play received a significant update followed by further mechanical improvements, while GSP became purchasable with MC.
- Seasonal events: The Trick or Treat Loot Bag Event offered a choice of prize mech after players earned 150 loot bags, and Daily Advent Events and Mech Challenges provided holiday activities. The Limited Time Spooky Halloween Bundle accompanied the Halloween event.
- Balance and earnings: Mobility Buffs improved movement-focused tuning, while Gameplay Tuning and Value Changes delivered a notable boost to player earnings and further adjusted mech values.

8v8 Competitive Mode launched with leaderboards, team registration, map banning, and detailed statistics. The Skill Tree and Incursion also substantially expanded how players built 'Mechs and contested objectives.

- Incursion introduced Fuel Cell Supply Points and Support Towers alongside team-base objectives.
- Escort created asymmetric attacker and defender victory conditions.
- Mech roster: The game added a strong run of Inner Sphere and Clan machines.
- Marauder IIC, Bushwacker, Supernova, Javelin, Roughneck, and Thanatos joined the available chassis.
- Inner Sphere Resistance Hero 'Mechs gave every Inner Sphere chassis at least one Hero variant.
- Nine Clan Hero 'Mechs and Clan IIC Hero 'Mechs expanded Hero coverage across the Clan roster.
- Rubellite Oasis and Faction Play: Rubellite Oasis became the first new map since Grim Plexus, supporting Quick Play and Faction Play. Clan Diamond Shark became a playable faction, while Faction Play Phase 4.1 introduced the Tug Of War system and broader warfare changes.
- Progression and event systems: Skill Tree replaced the previous approach with loadout- and role-focused 'Mech optimization. Special Events System brought Quick Play and Faction Play events into the client, and Private Lobby access opened to players without Premium Time.
- Balance and combat tuning: The Energy Weapon Balance Pass refined weapon roles and Inner Sphere–Clan balance. Engine Desync separated agility from engine size, while the Quirk Pass on Clan Chassis Variants, Medium-class Lasers Balance Adjustments, and multiple 'Mech quirk changes reshaped builds.
- Trick or Treat 3 Loot Bag Event: The Halloween event let players earn up to 150 random Loot Bags through qualifying matches, with extra rewards for Tournament Supporter Pack owners.
