Soundpad

The December 2025 update delivered Soundpad’s biggest changes, improving random playback, expanding platform support, and tightening standalone-build security. It also added ARM Processor Support and resolved the Windows 11 KB5065426 audio compatibility problem, while September 2026 brought further headset, audio, and localization fixes.

• Playback and controls: The Improved Random Playback Algorithm reduced noticeable repetitions; the Auto Stop option moved into the Play menu; and the voice activation sound played through headphones. Device Preferences gained a Refresh button, while the Removing Dead Entries confirmation dialog prevented accidental cleanup.
• Platform and security: ARM Processor Support arrived, and signatures for TTS.dll, SoundpadService.exe, and standalone updater files were verified. The Steam edition briefly used Steam SDK 1.63 before rolling back to Steam SDK 1.59 to address launch issues with outdated Steam clients; its initialization also stopped the full version from opening in demo mode.
• Windows and hardware compatibility: Windows 11 KB5065426 compatibility issues involving Voice Clarity and other audio enhancements were fixed. The Logitech Blue Yeti restart problem, Logitech G Pro X Blue VO!CE filter issue, permanent Windows audio ducking, Windows hibernation blockage, and Windows 11 Volume Mixer connection problem were also addressed.
• Reliability and media handling: Crashes involving the Troubleshooting Report, nonexistent partitions, and an empty external-editor sound list were fixed. Remote Control DoSeekMs handled zero and negative values correctly, Auto Keys distinguished left and right modifiers, malformed m3u imports were repaired, and playback received a workaround for MP4 decoding error c00d36e6. Arabic and Hebrew list layouts were corrected in September 2026.

Soundpad introduced a significant accessibility update for theme selection on August 30, 2024, changing the default theme to the native system theme unless dark mode is configured. This period also featured a beta version release for users without launch issues, allowing access to full TTS features.

• Quality of Life Improvements: Several enhancements made the user experience smoother.

  • Updated the backup of sound lists, reducing empty backups on August 30, 2024.
  • Improved the remote control interface with additional attributes for sounds on August 30, 2024.
  • Enhanced device preferences access, allowing right-click access even without devices present on August 30, 2024.

• TTS Component Changes: The TTS component underwent adjustments.

  • Disabled voice selection for newer voices until crash issues were resolved on April 26, 2024.
  • Fixed a TTS-related crash after launch on April 29, 2024, restoring functionality for affected users.

Soundpad introduced significant updates during its fourth year, highlighted by the multiple pages for the hotbar feature, which greatly enhances user organization. Additionally, the hotkey prioritization change improved the functionality of hotbar hotkeys, making them more responsive than random category hotkeys.

• New Features:

  • Multiple Pages for Hotbar: Users can now organize their hotbar across multiple pages, streamlining access to sounds.
  • Assign Hotkeys to Rows: A new option allows users to assign hotkeys to an entire row instead of individual sounds.

• Balance Changes:

  • Hotkey Prioritization Change: Hotbar hotkeys now take precedence over random category hotkeys, improving usability.

• User Interface Updates:

  • Minimum Size for Main Window: A minimum size was established for the main window in both dark and light themes.
  • Correct SteamID in About Dialog: The About dialog now displays the correct SteamID instead of the multiseat account id.

• Quality of Life Improvements:

  • Quicker Grid Format Changes: Adjustments to the grid format are now faster, and the movement lag with high polling rates on Windows 10 has been reduced.
  • Category Rename/Delete on Key Down: Users can now rename or delete categories using just a key press.

• Performance Enhancements:

  • Faster Hotbar Rendering: Rendering of the hotbar has been optimized, resulting in improved performance with many entries.

Soundpad introduced Meowpad Sound Lists Support on July 15, 2020, allowing users to download sound lists with a single click. This update also brought separate hotkeys for recording, enhancing user control over audio input.

• New Features:

  • Meowpad Sound Lists Support: Users can now easily download sound lists with one click.
  • Separate Hotkeys for Recording: Added hotkeys to start recording from either speakers or microphone.

• User Interface Enhancements:

  • Themes and Zoom Functionality: Introduced themes and zoom features in December 2019.

• Audio Improvements:

• Quality of Life Adjustments:

  • Recently Played Sounds History: A new history feature was added to track the last ten sounds played.
  • Auto Stop Option: This feature was turned on by default to improve user experience.

• Performance Enhancements:

  • Hotkey Recognition Performance Improved: The performance of hotkey recognition was enhanced for users with many configured hotkeys.
  • Win-Audio Restart Improvement: Changes to the Win-Audio restart process now apply all device changes before restarting.

Soundpad introduced significant Sound Recorder Enhancements on February 6, 2019, allowing users to record from speakers or microphones while displaying maximum recording time. The update also added Text-To-Speech Integration, enabling the use of TTS phrases through a free open-source app.

• Audio Improvements: Enhanced Playback Device Change Handling ensured that sounds continued playing on the new default device when it was switched in Windows.
• Quality of Life: New features included Hotkeys State Persistence, allowing users to maintain hotkey settings between application starts, and the option to Start Soundpad Minimized.
• User Interface Enhancements: A new Always on Top Option was added, along with a context menu for hotbar sounds. Preparations for a Dark Theme began, although it was not yet completed.

Soundpad saw a significant update on July 4, 2018, introducing new features such as Categories for organizing sound collections, a Hotbar for quick access to sound files, and a Hotkey overview for managing configured hotkeys. Additionally, support for FLAC and OGG audio formats was expanded to include Unicode file names and tags, enhancing usability for diverse sound libraries.

• Enhanced Hotkey Functionality: Improved reliability of hotkeys without needing administrator rights and support for non-descriptive keys, expanding the range of customizable controls.

• Localization Updates: New language translations were added, including Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Thai, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), French, Korean, and Portuguese (Brazil).

• Balance Changes: Rolled back integrity level handling to improve reliability of hotkeys, even when not run as administrator, addressing previous drawbacks in the Steam edition.
