Episode 5: Ultimatum completed The Descendant’s first season on December 5, 2016, delivering its story finale. Earlier, Episode 4: Cerberus advanced the Donnie, Randolph, Mia, and Silas storyline, while Chapter Replay added a way to revisit completed chapters and pursue different outcomes.
- Season finale: Episode 5: Ultimatum concluded the first season and added new story developments, while improved interactions in Episode 1 expanded the office and water-heating sequences.
- Story episodes: The season received three substantial chapters before its finale:
- Episode 2: Into the Storm continued the story through Mia and Silas, adding new character interactions and developments.
- Episode 3: What Lies Beneath introduced another story chapter with new narrative content and character developments.
- Episode 4: Cerberus pushed Donnie, Randolph, Mia, and Silas toward the season’s conclusion.
- Replay system: Chapter Replay let players rewind to previously completed chapters and see different outcomes. An Episode 1 Chapter 4 save-progress issue that could erase a save slot’s progress was also resolved.
- Platform and language support: Mac OS X support brought the complete game and its DLC to Apple computers, while DirectX 9 compatibility helped lower-spec systems run the game. French, Italian, German, and Spanish subtitles and menus were added, alongside controller support for nVidia Shield, Steam, and Xbox360 controllers.
