No verified changes to The Surge were captured. The supplied entries described The Surge 2, the sequel, rather than updates to the original game, so they did not count as changes to this title.

  • The Surge 2 launch: The September 2019 launch material covered the sequel, not a new expansion or update for The Surge.
  • URBN Gear Pack: The pre-order armor set, weapons, and equipment belonged to The Surge 2 rather than The Surge.
  • The Surge 2 combat systems: Directional parries, companion drones, revised limb targeting, executions, and character customization were all described as sequel features.

The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented landed on October 2, 2018, as a major expansion for The Surge. It added nine testing chambers, Old West-inspired challenges, 30 pieces of equipment, and new ways to modify encounters and rewards.

  • The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented: The expansion sent players into Dr. Rischboter’s abandoned Quality Assurance lab, where they faced increasingly difficult training scenarios, brutal executions, and distinct Challengers.
  • Challenge modifiers: The expansion introduced 16 modifiers that players could combine in groups of up to four, changing stage conditions while increasing potential rewards.
  • New gear and opponents: Defeating the Challengers unlocked 30 unique equipment pieces, including weapons, armor sets, and implants tied to the expansion’s testing chambers.
  • November 27 patch: The update fixed the Tech Scrap exploit involving destroyed gear and implants, restored the Asclepius set bonus when using Medi-Voltaic Injection Max, and corrected the Mute Rischboter functionality. It also updated the Episode & Modifier Selection screen to reflect modifier difficulty and work correctly with custom controller layouts.

A Walk in the Park expanded The Surge with the new CREO World amusement park, branching paths, deadly traps, and a new boss encounter in December 2017. The free Cutting Edge Pack and Fire and Ice Weapons Pack later added more gear, enemies, and build options.

  • A Walk in the Park: Added CREO World, 16 new weapons, armor sets, and implants, plus a new boss and additional challenges. New implants and implant slots also became available in NG+ for all players.

  • Fire and Ice Weapons Pack: Added 10 free weapons split between five MG-branded fire weapons and five ice weapons, with distinct physical, elemental, explosive, and health-bonus effects.
