Update 1.8.2 delivered the year’s biggest addition: the Shields campaign, two new Legendary missions, and rotating Global Events. It followed with Update 1.8.1, which added more endgame challenges and the Blackout event, while Update 1.8.3 reshaped the Striker’s Battlegear meta.
- Major updates: Update 1.8.1 added Legendary versions of Amherst’s Apartment and Grand Central Station, launched Blackout, increased Classified Gear drop rates, and expanded Division Tech rewards. Update 1.8.2 added Legendary Madison Field Hospital and General Assembly, introduced Shields, and brought back Outbreak.
- Shields progression: The Shields system added challenge-based collectibles such as Shepherd, Avenger, Deadeye, Hazard, Sacred, Phoenix, Talon, Rebel, Fang, Prime, and Marshal. Completing them awarded audio logs, patches, Exotic weapons, Classified Gear, and tiered rewards that carried into The Division 2.
- Endgame activities: Resistance gained the Powerhouse, Pier 93, and Carrier arenas, with the Rebel Shield tied to reaching wave 15. Weekly assignments also awarded Exotic Caches, while Legendary missions expanded to include Time Square Power Relay, WarrenGate Power Plant, Napalm Production Site, Amherst’s Apartment, Grand Central Station, Madison Field Hospital, and General Assembly.
- Global Events: Blackout, Onslaught, Ambush, Strike, and Outbreak rotated through the game with new modifiers, masks, weapon skins, Classified Gear opportunities, and commendations. Blackout added Shock Ammo, charge-based damage, and risky overcharged melee kills; Onslaught cycled Burn, Bleed, and Gas effects.
- Builds and loot: Classified Striker’s Battlegear received major damage, healing, stack, and EMP adjustments, while Predator’s Mark, Path of the Nomad, Reclaimer, and Tactician’s Authority were retuned. Loot changes also added targeted Classified caches, improved Classified drop rates, and raised the Phoenix Credit cap to 8,000.
- Returning-player access: Underground and Survival received free-access weeks, and Reactivation Caches supplied returning Agents with high-end and full gear-set equipment. The expansion stash also became available to all players regardless of DLC ownership.
