Year 1
May 24, 2016 - May 24, 2017
Realm of the Wood Elves was the year's biggest addition, bringing a new playable race, the Season of Revelations story campaign, and the Legendary Lords Orion and Durthu. Call of the Beastmen and the free Bretonnia release also substantially expanded the campaign roster, while the Assembly Kit gained meaningful map-making tools.
- Realm of the Wood Elves: The Campaign Pack added the Wood Elves to the Grand Campaign, the Season of Revelations map, a full army roster, Amber as a race-specific currency, new monsters and heroes, two lord types, three hero types, and specialized skill trees.
- Call of the Beastmen and Bretonnia: Call of the Beastmen introduced the Beastmen as a playable horde race alongside the An Eye for an Eye story campaign. Free Bretonnia content added the Bretonnia faction, Duke Alberic’s campaign in Bordeleaux, the Green Knight, and Isabella von Carstein as a new Legendary Lord, while Grombrindal became freely available to all players.
- Additional campaign content: The King and the Warlord content added Belagar Ironhammer and Skarsnik, six battlefield units, 22 Regiments of Renown, new quest chains, magic items, and skill trees. The Blood & Gore Pack added blood effects, Blood Knights, and five multiplayer battle maps.
- Campaign and modding systems: The Wood Elves gained wonder-based victory conditions and the ability to conquer any region, while Legendary Lords received separate starting positions. The Terry Assembly Kit editor added land-battle map creation, Steam Workshop integration, automatic multiplayer map transfer, one-click .pack export, and Battle Camera Mode.
- Balance and battle changes: The June unit rebalancing reduced agent effectiveness and made AI sieges more challenging. Bretonnia tuning later adjusted Men-at-Arms costs, Foot Squires, Questing Knights, Strigoi’s Soulblight, and Helman Ghorst’s Vanhel Danse Macabre, while drop-hacking incurred a 5% multiplayer score penalty.
